DC Private Car Rentals

What is a private car rental?
A private car rental allows you to rent a vehicle directly from an independent rental provider for personal or business use under a short-term rental agreement.

Who is eligible to rent a vehicle?
Renters must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, maintain active auto insurance, and successfully complete identity verification.

What documents are required?
A valid driver’s license, government-issued photo ID, proof of active auto insurance, and an accepted payment method are required.

Booking & Payment

How do I book a vehicle?
Reservations are completed online through our secure booking system. Vehicle availability is confirmed once payment and verification are complete.

Is a deposit required?
Yes. A 50% reservation deposit mat be required prior for first-time customers and must be paid via Zelle or placed on credit hold. This deposit secures the reservation and vehicle availability.

Is a security deposit required?
Yes. A refundable security deposit hold is required for all rentals. The amount varies by vehicle and is released after post-rental inspection, provided no damages, violations, or outstanding charges apply.

What payment methods are accepted?
We accept major credit cards, debit cards, Zelle, and PayPal. All required payments must clear prior to vehicle release.
Cancellations, Modifications & Early Returns

Can I cancel my reservation?
Cancellations made within the free cancellation period may be eligible for a refund of amounts paid, excluding applicable reservation deposits.

What if I cancel after the free cancellation period?
Late cancellations may result in partial or full forfeiture of rental fees, depending on timing and vehicle preparation.

Can I modify my reservation?
Reservation changes are permitted subject to availability and approval. Pricing may be adjusted based on the modification.

What happens if I return the vehicle early?
Early returns do not qualify for refunds for unused rental time unless otherwise approved in writing.

Rental Duration & Usage

Is there a minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is 24 hours. Weekend rentals require a two-day minimum.

Is mileage limited?
Mileage is unlimited unless otherwise stated in the vehicle listing.

What happens if I return the vehicle late?
A one-hour grace period applies. Late fees are charged hourly or daily thereafter and may include loss-of-use charges.

Interstate travel is permitted unless otherwise restricted. *
The renter is responsible for all tolls, fees, and traffic violations.
Insurance, Damage & Responsibility

Is insurance included with the rental?
The renter’s personal auto insurance policy serves as primary coverage during the rental period. Renters are fully responsible for all damage, loss, theft, tolls, citations, and administrative fees incurred while the vehicle is in their possession.

What happens if the vehicle is damaged?
All damage must be reported immediately. Repair costs, diminished value, and loss-of-use charges may apply.

What should I do in case of an accident or breakdown?
Contact emergency services if necessary, notify your insurance carrier immediately, and inform DC Private Car Rentals as soon as possible.

Vehicle Pickup & Return

Where do I pick up and return the vehicle?
Vehicles may be picked up at designated locations or delivered for an additional fee. Delivery availability and fees vary by location.

Do I need to refuel the vehicle before returning it?
Yes. Vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level as provided at pickup. Refueling charges apply if returned with less fuel.

What condition should the vehicle be returned in?
Vehicles must be returned in substantially the same condition as received, excluding normal wear and tear.

Additional Policies

Who is allowed to drive the vehicle?
Only drivers approved and listed on the rental agreement may operate the vehicle.**
Are pets allowed?**
Pets are not permitted in rental vehicles.

Are smoking or prohibited activities allowed?
Smoking, vaping, drug use, towing, off-road driving, and unlawful activity are strictly prohibited.
